The front and rear suspension systems consist of several moving parts that allow the vehicle to absorb the impact of rough surfaces. The components that make up this system consist of ball joints, bushings, and arms. The ball joints allow parts to pivot, the bushings are used to attach components to the body, and the arms are links between the ball joints and bushings. Springs are placed between the upper and lower control arms to absorb the force created by the impact of rough surfaces. The shock or strut is designed to control the bounce created by the spring.

Over time the components will wear and start making annoying sounds. Usually best heard on rough road surfaces and making turns. As these parts wear they change the alignment of the vehicle and cause corrective steering issues. Keeping up with these issues as they wear will help prevent collateral damage to other parts.
