A Few Facts About Acura

Acura is a somewhat newer vehicle brand; the luxury division of Honda was introduced to the United States and Canada in 1986, Hong Kong in 1991, Mexico in 2004 and China in 2006.

Acura had planned to introduce their vehicles to the Japanese market, but delayed and eventually cancelled their plans due to financial crisis. Financial hardship has also caused the company to cancel all but moderate updates to current models and introduction of new models, despite previously announced plans.

Honda opened 60 new dealerships in the U.S. to promote its introduction of the Acura brand.

Initially there were only two models; Legend and Integra.

Legend was the larger sedan model while Integra was compact and available as either a five-door or three-door hatchback.

Acura could be described as very well received, selling over 100,000 cars during the first full year available and being ranked #1 on the Customer Satisfaction Index for the company’s first five years of availability.

Acura focuses on technology and advancement, having a current marketing slogan of “Advance” and recent models having hi-tech features like keyless start and their blind spot information system as part of the standard package.
