A Few Facts About Chrysler

Chrysler is the flagship brand of the Chrysler Group LLC, founded in 1925 by its namesake Walter P. Chrysler. Originally, Chrysler vehicles were categorized as premium luxury; with their main rivals being Cadillac and Lincoln.

After the Chrysler Corporation created a separate spin-off brand to better compete in the premium luxury market, Chrysler was restructured to offer near-luxury and entry-level luxury vehicles. Changes were made again in 1975 and Chrysler now offers both entry-level luxury and luxury cars. Recently, an announcement stating the company’s long-term goal to remake Chrysler back into a full-luxury brand.

Similar to its main competition, Ford Motor Company and General Motors, Chrysler is headquartered in the Detroit area; making it part of the Motor City and all the history that comes with it including the use of its factories to build military vehicles during the Second World War.

Although Chrysler is considered the chief brand of the Chrysler Group LLC, there are presently only three domestic vehicle models available; the Chrysler 200, Chrysler 300 and Town & Country. Internationally, there are only four currently produced models; the Chrysler 300 and Chrysler Grand Voyager are obtainable in select countries and the Lancia Ypsilon and Lancia Delta have both been rebranded as Chrysler for the United Kingdom and Ireland.]

Chrysler’s current slogan is “Imported from Detroit”; however out of the three models in production, only the Chrysler 200 is built in the Detroit area. The other two are both built in Ontario, Canada. The company has faced legal issues because of it, facing a lawsuit claiming that “Imported from Detroit” is false advertising.
